Atlas Copco’s noble “Water for All” CSR initiative took center stage at the Atlas Copco Invitational Golf Championship 2013.
Atlas Copco held its prestigious invitational golf tournament at Poona Golf club on the 31st of March 2013. The tournament was well supported by Shell, Roots and other business associates and the participation turnout was 100%. The proceeds from various auctions were donated to the noble theme,” Water for All” initiated by the company.
The turnout at the tournament was very good with amateur golf participants from various walks of life, business associates and corporate employees. The greens at the golf course were in good condition and thanks to the weather gods, the breeze and the temperature remained friendly and the golfers were able to enjoy a very competitive and fun day out on the golf course. A golf clinic was also held for the newcomers to encourage golfing and the winners of the clinic rewarded at the prize distribution.
The tournament was played in a stable ford format with 75% handicap allowance which was keenly contested and there was a three way tie with 34 stable ford points for the winner’s prize. Mr. Chirag Shah played 5 over gross at 76 but was pipped to 2nd runner up position as veteran Mr. Anuraag Gupta beat him on the count back with 81 gross score while the budding junior golfer Tanay Srivastava had to contend with the 1st runner up position. Ms Sherry Fager was the winner in the ladies category.
The prize distribution and the dinner with cocktails in the evening was well attended and enjoyed by all the sponsors and the golfers, the hosts under the leadership of Filip Vandenberghe, Managing Director, Atlas Copco India, ensured that the guests and the golfers had a gala time. Captain of the Club Mr. Narottam Choudhary thanked the sponsors for their continuous support for holding their third annual event at the Poona Golf club and appreciated their contribution to, “Water for All” social commitment.
